In 1981, Ulrich Dausien created the Jack Wolfskin brand in Idstein, Germany, specializing in outdoor equipment. Ten years later, he sold his business to Johnson Outdoors, who kept it for eleven years before selling it to the American company Bain Capital. In 2019, the brand passes into the hands of the Californian group Callaway Golf, the leading golf equipment manufacturer in the United States. With the acquisition of Jack Wolfskin, Callaway Golf enters the growing high-end outerwear segment through the front door and is targeting the international market. Today, the brand has more than 850 stores and its products are also available from more than 400 partner distributors.
